Timeline, 3 Weeks

Brief

VoiceStory is a ticketed storytelling event series that produces a powerful, emotional experience in front of a live audience. Our task was to develop a unique brand identity that effectively communicates the sophistication and quality of their content and live experiences and then develop the UX team’s wireframes into a pixel perfect clickable prototype.

Client Discovery

Our initial client kick-off meeting with VoiceStory was personal and surprisingly moving. The founders shared their own stories concerning why VoiceStory is so important to them. It became clear to us how deeply personal this project is for the founders and their community.

Iterative Design Process

We developed an iterative design strategy consisting of 4 design rounds to manage our short project timeline to ensure all screens were completed in time and to the same quality level. Once the entire project was designed we prioritized and labeled features and screens that needed more work and applied time-boxed design sprints in priority order.

Unique Brand Identity

In addition to typography and colour iterations, we created the folded paper icons as a core branding element to anchor the brand and draw on paper as a visual symbol for storytelling. We initially designed them with rounded corners to match the rounded cards and other UI elements but in later iterations, we found that sharp angular corners created an even more attractive look which contrasted and complement the rest of the rounded UI elements.

“ The amount of work, the number of mock-ups, and just how familiar they became with VoiceStory was truly impressive. They were not just thinking of this project they were feeling it as well, and it showed in how concepts were presented to us. They were able to take what we said in words and give it a digital feel, one that draws you in, the same way the stories that get told at VoiceStory do. ”
